Tales of Suspense #39
Tales of Suspense #39 provides the introduction and origin of the her Iron Man. Tony Stark is a rich weapons manufacturer who travels to Vietnam where an explosion leaves him near death. He creates an iron suit to extend his life and allow him to defeat his captors. With the suit, he also becomes the costumed hero Iron Man! His adventures would continue under the Tales of Suspense title under the separate Iron Man title was launched in 1968.
